How can I use my coupon?
Redeem your coupon code, found in an email sent after you completed the post-workshop survey, at participating nurseries to receive a $10 discount on a purchase of native plants. You can also share the "friends and neighbor" coupons with people in other households to help them get started with native plant gardening too.

How many times can I use my coupon?
Each coupon (both the "self" and "friends and neighbor" coupons) can only be used once. However, you can share each of the three "friends and neighbor" coupons once with different people in separate households to help them get started planting native plants. Please use only one coupon per household. Neighbor and friends coupons should only be used by households that did not receive the vouchers from the Native Plant Outreach Habitat Hero Workshop. Please commit to following these guidelines to enable us to conduct our study effectively.
What native plants do I plant?
For our purposes, native plants are plants that are native to Colorado and the West. We have worked with the City of Fort Collins and participating nurseries to create two lists for you.
New to gardening? Download our "bestseller" list to see 25 native plant species that folks commonly plant in Colorado.
Want more detail? Download our "comprehensive" list to see the 180+ native plant species that are being sold at participating nurseries this spring.

Why should I plant native plants?
Your yard is your outdoor sanctuary. With some careful plant choices, it can also be a haven for native birds, pollinators and other wildlife. Recent science tells us that yards with native plantings provide habitat for more threatened bird species than yards landscaped with typical ornamentals. What’s more, growing native plants is a great way to create a beautiful outdoor space while using less water at home.
Which nurseries will take my coupon?
Check out our Coupons & Nurseries page for the latest information about what participating nurseries are accepting coupons, and how to redeem your coupon. At the moment nurseries are offering online orders with curbside pickup or delivery, to protect our communities from coronavirus spread.
Are nurseries being paid for each $10 discount?
Yes! Our National Science Foundation (NSF) grant allows us to pay back our partner nurseries for every $10 coupon that gets redeemed. That's why it's so important you give them the coupon code before you pay, so that they can track that purchase and we can pay them back.
HOW IS COVID-19 AFFECTING Native plant Coupons?
To keep you and our community safe, we are:
- Working with nurseries to allow you to redeem your $10 voucher online with curbside pickup or delivery, to avoid physical contact.
- Ensuring that nurseries get the full value of any plants you purchase by reimbursing them for redeemed vouchers.
- Encouraging voucher recipients to share vouchers in a way that maintains a safe physical distance - text or email a friend!
- Keeping our website up to date with information about participating nurseries and procedures for redeeming coupons.
